About FEMTA

The collective voice of India’s authorised money changers

The Foreign Exchange & Money Transfer Association (FEMTA) is a trade body of authorised money-changing businesses in India. Our members are Full-Fledged Money Changers (FFMCs) and Authorised Persons licensed by the Reserve Bank of India under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999.

FEMTA was founded to give the money-changing fraternity a unified, responsible voice — to create a well-regulated and transparent ecosystem for everyone in the foreign-exchange business. We bring members together, keep them informed of regulatory developments, and uphold standards of compliance, ethics and customer service across the trade.

Membership is open only to Authorised Persons as defined under the RBI Master Direction on Money Changing Activities, and to the professionals and individuals who support them — reinforcing the credibility and compliance culture of the whole industry.

🎯

Our Mission

To promote a fair, compliant and customer-friendly foreign-exchange ecosystem in India by representing the legitimate interests of authorised money changers, building member capacity through knowledge and training, and acting as a constructive bridge between the trade and its regulators.

🌅

Our Vision

To be the most trusted and effective representative body for the foreign-exchange and money-changing fraternity in India — known for integrity, compliance and member service.

Our Objectives

  • Represent members before the RBI, FIU-IND, government and other authorities on policy and compliance matters.
  • Promote strict adherence to FEMA, RBI directions and KYC/AML/CFT standards across the trade.
  • Build member capacity through a shared knowledge base, circulars, training and the annual FxCon conference.
  • Provide a platform for networking, dialogue and collective problem-solving among Authorised Persons.
  • Keep members updated on regulatory changes, notifications and industry developments in good time.
  • Help members access talent, technology and services on better, collectively-negotiated terms.

Our Story

FEMTA was registered in 2017 (Regn. No. 24 of 2017) by a group of established money changers who saw the need for an organised, principled industry voice. From its base in Hyderabad/Secunderabad, the association has grown to bring together 100+ member FFMCs across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and beyond, and continues to expand its national footprint and the range of services it offers members.
